LangScribe — Privacy Policy

LangScribe is a language writing practice app developed by Port City Creations. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data Collection

No data is collected by Port City Creations. LangScribe operates on your computer.

• No analytics or telemetry
• No advertising or ad tracking
• No account creation required
• No data sent to Port City Creations servers

How the App Works

LangScribe runs locally on your desktop. Your writing sessions, settings, and chat history are stored in a local SQLite database on your computer. The app sends your text to an AI provider for analysis — which provider depends on your configuration.

AI Provider Communication

LangScribe sends your written text to an AI provider for translation, analysis, and tutoring. You choose and configure the provider:

• Claude (Anthropic) — Text is sent to Anthropic’s API. Governed by Anthropic’s privacy policy .
• Ollama (local) — Text is processed entirely on your computer. Nothing leaves your machine.
• OpenAI-compatible APIs — Text is sent to whichever service you configure. Governed by that service’s privacy policy.

LangScribe sends only the text needed for analysis. No metadata, device information, or usage data is included in these requests.

Data Storage

All data — writing sessions, chat history, word translations, and settings — is stored locally in a SQLite database on your computer. No data is synced to any cloud service.

Third-Party Services

LangScribe does not communicate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communication is with the AI provider you configure.

Children’s Privacy

LangScribe does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
