TideCaster — Privacy Policy

TideCaster is a podcast and audiobook app developed by Port City Creations. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
Data Collection
No personal data is collected. TideCaster operates entirely on your device.
- No analytics or telemetry
- No advertising or ad tracking
- No account creation required
- No data sent to Port City Creations servers
- No listening history shared with anyone
- No podcast recommendations based on tracking
- No fingerprinting or device identification
How the App Works
TideCaster fetches podcast feeds directly from their publishers using standard RSS. Episodes are downloaded to your device and played locally. No requests are routed through intermediary servers operated by Port City Creations.
Audiobooks are sourced from LibriVox, a public domain audiobook library. Chapter audio is streamed or downloaded directly from LibriVox/Internet Archive servers.
Text-to-speech audio is generated entirely on your device using Apple’s built-in speech synthesis. Article text is never sent to any server for processing.
Network Requests
TideCaster makes network requests to the following services:
- Podcast publisher servers — to fetch RSS feeds and download episode audio
- Apple iTunes Search API — to search for podcasts by name (search queries only; no personal data sent)
- Podcast Index API — to browse podcast charts and categories (no personal data sent)
- LibriVox / Internet Archive servers — to search for and stream/download audiobook chapters
- Apple iCloud servers — only if you enable iCloud sync (see below)
No other network requests are made. TideCaster does not communicate with any Port City Creations servers.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your subscriptions, playback progress, and settings are synced across your devices using Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. This data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy . Port City Creations never has access to your iCloud data.
iCloud sync is optional. The app works fully offline without it.
Data Storage
All data — subscriptions, episodes, playback progress, listening stats, and settings — is stored locally on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, a copy is stored in your personal iCloud account.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since no data is collected by Port City Creations, there is no data to retain or delete on our end.
To delete all app data from your device, delete the TideCaster app. This removes all local data including subscriptions, downloaded episodes, generated audio, and settings. If iCloud sync was enabled, you can remove synced data from Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
Third-Party Services
TideCaster does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. The only third-party code dependency is FeedKit , an open-source RSS parsing library that runs entirely on-device.
Children’s Privacy
TideCaster does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no user-generated content, social features, or in-app purchases.
Your Rights
Because TideCaster collects no personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete under GDPR, CCPA, or similar privacy regulations. If you have questions about this, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
